Dental crown treatment is generally a safe and predictable procedure, but there are some risks worth understanding. During tooth preparation, work may occasionally need to be done close to the tooth's nerve; in such cases, post-treatment sensitivity can increase, and root canal treatment may become necessary in some instances. Micro-leakage developing at the crown margin over time can lead to secondary decay underneath; this risk is significantly reduced through regular dental check-ups.
